The Automation Technician┬ position is available at the Merck Animal Health facility in Elkhorn, Nebraska, located on the West end of Omaha.┬  The Elkhorn facility is expanding operations to manufacture animal vaccines and biologics.┬

Work with a dedicated and talented team to manage the facility/mechanic and automation needs of the Elkhorn Production site. Assigned duties vary based on experience and may include the following:

  • Work with Safety as a top priority and actively support the Merck & Co., Inc. goal of establishing a Zero Incident Safety Culture

  • Ensure 100% environmental compliance in all work activities and follow Merck environmental rules and regulations

  • Assist with new equipment installation.

  • Troubleshoot programming and system faults for plant equipment and modify existing programs to improve sequencing, add/modify/remove alarms, and aide in improved troubleshooting and error response within the plant PLCs, HMIs, and automated systems.

  • Perform work as an Industrial Electrician within electrical panels, systems, and wiring up to 480V. Individual will be required to become certified as an authorized qualified Electrician at the facility and meet all requirements for achieving and maintaining that certification.

  • Perform Industrial Maintenance activities as required, both as planned & scheduled work and as emergent production line support, troubleshooting, and repair. Required work activities may include controls, electrical, and/or mechanical maintenance as required based on operational need.

  • Ensure equipment is in top working order through regular and preventative maintenance

  • Evaluate and maintain equipment to ensure or improve safety and production efficiency

  • Interpret mechanical drawings, construction drawings and machine manuals


Education Minimum Requirement:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required. Technical Degree in Industrial Electrical, Controls, or Automation-based fields preferred.

Required Experience and Skills:

  • Experience working with Electrical Distribution systems and wiring up to 480V required.

  • Knowledge of Automation hardware and software experience for troubleshooting, including but not limited to:┬ 

    • Allen Bradley

    • Wonderwarer

    • SCADA systems

    • Other PLC and HMI products

  • Aptitude to effectively problem-solve and collaborate with others

  • Basic computer skills (i.e. e-mail, Microsoft office suite, etc.)

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
